Winter Storm

The First Winter Storm is on the way to Shoals. I have decided not to have my classes at LBC tonight. By the time I got out the snow and ice would already be on the roads here in town.

We may get some ice but I am hoping more Snow less ice. That equals less danger

The Lesson and Life

I just finished my articles for the Lookout. I am writing the Lesson and Life section in the May issues. I really enjoyed it.

Two Weeks Done

My two classes at Lousivlle Bible College are going well. They have been well attended and I am enjoying teaching them. I love this teaching thing I think I could get used to it.

The 3:16 series is going well. The people are really responding to it.

Other 3:16's

Over the next few weeks I will be preaching from other 3:16 verses in the Bible. I John 3:16, Acts 3:16, Revelation 3:16, and I Timothy 3:16. It should be fun series to preach.

CCJ is also doing this series and I think Bryan Sanders at Sanborn is as well.

Tradition Cheats College Football Fans

Tradition is good. There is nothing wrong with traditions. My family has many that i cherish and wouldn't want to see change.

However, the Rose Bowl allowed tradition to cheat college football fans out of a great game. Can you imagine a GA/USC Rose Bowl. If that would have happened we would be one step closer to knowing who is the best team.

Instead they chose IL and they were humiliated. Illinois is a great team and would have done great against many other teams. But by their commitment to tradition over good football we still have no answer to who might be the best and we have a good team who has been utterly humiliated and may take a while to recover from it.

Happy Birthday

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my lovely Mother. She is 29 today.

15 Years

On January 2, 1993 Tina Willhite did what I hoped she would do for a long time. She Married me. Today Tina and I have been married for 15 years. If I am lucky it will only be for 50-75 more.

I love you Tina. Thanks for sharing your life and creating the worlds best kids with me.

POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME

Wow I didnt get to bed until 1:30 AM but it was worth it. 41-10 GA beats Hawaii. Yes they were poised for an upset, for about thirty seconds.

Way to go Richt

Happy New Year and BOWL DAY

Just wanted to say happy 2008 to all my friends and family. My family and I spent two days last week in Knoxville Tennesse with my parents and bro and his family.

I love Zach and Mia. They are the greatest. Mia hope you find your DS Soon.

Last night was spent with our very good friends Brian and Cassie Self. We had a blast even though IU lost its Bowl Game.

So far the SEC is 4-0 but the big ten my have something to say about it. Wisconsin Dominates Tennessee it seems.

GO GA and GO SEC

Revelation

Beginning in January I am teaching Revelation at Lousiville Bible College. I am very excited for this opportunity. I am looking forward to the challenge of teaching this book in a clear and consice way.

Revelation is one of my favorite books of the bible. However, I do not believe that Revelation was written to help us predict the end of the world.

Tough Day To Be A Falcon

It seems that the Atlanta Falcons can't get a break. First the All Star QB is a thug. Too bad he wasn't aborting babies he would still be playing.

They are 3-13 and now their head coach gets up and walks out before the season is over. Bobby Petrino may be a good coach but on the character meter he is way below zero. Move over Nick Saban and make room on the Liars Bench.

Happy Holidays Merry Christmas and who knows what else

Hello friends. Once again it has been a while but wanted to say whatever non offensive saying I could to you all.

Mike Vick will be in jail for 23 months. Something tells me he might have a long two years. Of course one wonders how things would be different if Jonny Cocharan was still alive.

Vick is Guilty? Who Would have Guessed

Well Vick is Guilty. I can't say that I am shocked. Who would have guessed a Kennel Called "Bad Newz" would be bad news?

However, this has caused me to reflect on our culture. Why is it that Senator KKK Robert Byrd will stand on the floor of the Senate and almost come to tears over Dog Fighting when he sees no problem with killing a baby inside the womb of its mother?

Figure that out and let me know.

We will talk later

National Preaching Summit

Monday and Tuesday me and several of my good preacher friends rode to the National Preaching Summit. As always there were good challenges thrown out to the preachers and there were a couple that convicted me and how I preach.

However, I was a bit disappointed in this years summit and hope next year it raises back to the level of the past.

My preaching class with Mark Scott was GREAT. I now feel better prepared to tackle the book of Matthew. Mark is a great person and communicator as well as a very gifted teacher. I look forward to seeing him at the Ingraham Conference at the End of the Month

The most Toys and Anna

Yesterday while looking at TV I could have sworn another President had passed away. The funeral procession was on CNN, Fox, etc. But it wasn't a president it was Anna Nicole Smith. I must admit I did watch some. Is this where we have come as a country? That a Stripper's funeral is good live as it happens news.

The fame was fleeting and the most attention she got was when she was dead. Is this really what life is about. This week my sermon title is "He who dies with the most toys wins." This is a lie that our whole country has bought into and Anna Nicoles funeral proves it.

Preaching From Matthew

This Week I will be at Lincoln Christian College and Seminary in Lincoln, IL (http://lccs.edu ) taking the class Preaching From Matthew. It will be taught by Mark Scott, Academic Dean at Ozark Christian College http://www.occ.edu . Mark is a great teacher and I am looking forward to hearing what he has to say.

Then next week the preaching group and I are heading off to Indy for the 2007 National Preaching Summit http://www.collegepress.com

Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity

This Sunday begins a new sermon series for my sermon study group. We are dealing with common myths you hear about Christianity. They are:

March 4- He Who Dies With The Most Toys Wins
March 11- If It Feels Good Do It
March 18- All Roads Lead to Heaven
March 25- My Faith is A Private Matter
April 1- I can be a Christian On My Own.

My idea for the series title came from an outstanding book by John Stossel about the lies we are told on a regular basis by the media, politicians, and scientist. Christian Church of Jasper and Central Christian are using the Title Myth busters.

In Honor of Wade

Well I have been told it is time to post again. Wade thanks for at least looking at the Blog.
